The TOTU BT-2 Sports in-ear headphones are very highly rated by individual customers on sites like Amazon. Customers praise their secure fit and great sound, among many other things. We are, of course, very curious to see if they can hold up to our own standards and live up to their mid-range price tag.
Design and build quality
The most striking design feature of the TOTU BT-2 Bluetooth earbuds are the molded earhooks, which an integral part of the housing. They loop around ears to provide users with a secure fit that can flexibly accommodate all ear shapes and sizes. The plastic has a soft rubber-like finish to it, making it quite pleasant on the skin.
The BT-2 Bluetooth headphones are covered with a thin layer of a substance called liquipel, which protects the electronics inside from moisture, allowing you to become drenched with sweat.
We really appreciate that the cable connecting the two earbuds is thin, thus almost impossible to tangle up. You can just throw them inside your gym bag at the end of your workout without ending up with a tangled mess of wires.
The earbuds support the latest Bluetooth 4.1 technology and have a built-in NFC chip. If you have a smartphone that supports NFC, you can just scan the earbuds for simple and fast connection or disconnection. However, even if you don’t, the pairing is still very fast and problem-free.
We also have to mention the very good battery life of up to 7 hours of playtime and 160 hours on standby. It’s even more impressive when you also factor in the fact that charging takes just 1.5 hours.
Just like many other Bluetooth headphones, the high-quality wireless sound is made possible thanks to the aptX technology, which is responsible for audio compression that doesn’t result in a loss of sound quality. The TOTU BT-2 earbuds also support noise reduction and echo cancellation during phone conversations Indeed, we have absolutely no complaints and could always understand and be understood without any issues.
Bass lovers will love the very deep end and great reproduction of sub-bass frequencies. This makes the earbuds work very well for watching movies, apart from just music listening. The rest of the sound spectrum doesn’t lack behind too much, but it’s nothing that would really impress you, either.
What’s in the box?
TOTU apparently want their customers to take a good care about their Bluetooth earbuds, because they included a very nicely made hard-shell case for storage. Also included are extra eartips and a high-quality USB charging cable. That’s really everything you could ask for from a pair of affordable earbuds.
