VERDICT

Symphonized NRG Premium Genuine Wood In-ear Noise-isolating Headphones with Mic and Nylon Cable are not perfect. Their construction could see some improvements because the housing is prone to falling apart. You can take some glue a fix it in a matter of seconds, but such design flaw takes from the otherwise high-quality product. The distinct lack of bass makes these earbuds destined to be used mostly with spoken word and bass-light music genres.

Symphonized understands that there are as many tastes as there are people. While other companies compete for the loudest and most bass-heavy earbud construction, Symphonized takes a slightly different approach.

Design

Symphonized NRG Premium look fantastic. They are available in 8 different wood finishes and feature a housing made out of real wood. Not only is the housing color different, but so is the braided cable.

Every color combination looks great and selecting one that matches with your taste or accessories is a great fun. Symphonized NRG looks great when placed inside ears as they are mostly hidden and don’t protrude like some other earbuds like to do.

Build quality

The housing is, unfortunately, prone to breaking. What happens is that the front and back parts fall apart as a result of repeated stress due to tugging on the cable and carrying them inside pockets and backpacks.

The worst case scenario is that you won’t notice this happening fast enough and will manage to snap some cable inside. You would have to solder the tiny cable back together, which could be very problematic without the proper equipment and skills.

If you, however, manage to notice in time, all you have to do is apply some fast drying glue and you are good to go. It’s not a bad idea to do this before something bad happens just as a form of prevention. It’s better to live with tiny glue marks on your earbuds than end up with a broken pair.

Sound

The sound quality of Symphonized NRG Premium Genuine Wood Noise-isolating earbuds is fairly balanced, except for a slightly unfortunate lack of bass. We are no huge bass heads, but when we listen to music we like to experience it in its fullest potential with every little detail being fully accentuated and no part left out.

This is not the case with these earphones. You quickly notice that bass sounds muffled and unnatural. It doesn’t exactly lack in detail, but it is extremely subdued. This is not a big problem with rock and classical music, but it becomes very distracting with all bass-heavy genres out there.

What is in the box?

Symphonized NRG Premium come with three pairs of replaceable ear tips for maximum comfort and great fit. The smallest set of ear tips is perfect for kids and those who have exceptionally small ears. Their sizes are nicely spaced out and accommodating to every ear size and shape there is.
