Creative is well-known for its high-quality, affordable PC audio equipment but their expertise and knowledge are not limited to just speakers and soundcards. Creative EP-630 has a lot going for them and we are anxious to see if they live up to our expectations.
Design
The hallmark of Creative EP-630 In-Ear Noise Isolating Headphones is their minimalistic design. They come in two colors – black and white.
There is nothing extravagant about the way these earbuds look. Every contour is smooth and well-designed. They seem slightly more expensive than they actually are and that is a good thing. Creative is well aware that the earphones and headphones market is overflowing with earbuds aimed mostly at younger listeners with not much selection for more conservative folks.
Creative EP-630 earbuds beautifully fill this gap in the market and provide customers with more options to choose from. The white model looks great when paired with an iPhone or iPod because it slightly resembles the original Apple headphones.
Build quality
Let’s start with what’s bad. The weakest part of these earbuds is their cable. While quite durable in terms of its construction and overall quality, it is highly prone to very annoying microphonics.
Wearing these earphones underclothes is highly problematic as you will hear an unpleasant noise every time the cable touches your shirt or even just skin. The same can be said for indoor use. We tested these earbuds in front of PC and had to take them out after just one hour of listening because of the unpleasant sound the cable makes every time it bumped into the table.
The badly designed cable aside, everything else about these cheap earbuds is very high-quality. Creative EP-630 In-Ear Headphones will definitely last a long time without any major issues.
Sound
For some reason, we were expecting these earbuds to sound rather thin and lack impact at lower frequencies. We have quickly realized just how wrong we were.
Despite their elegant design, lightweight, and tiny construction, these earbuds sound powerful, deep, and very fun. Their sound signature is mainstream in all aspects and listening to music for long hours is absolutely effortless since they don’t cause any fatigue at all.
Creative EP-630 is probably the biggest surprise of all headphones and earbuds that we have ever tested. Everybody instantly loved their detailed sound, deep bass, and clear highs.
What is in the box?
When you purchase these earbuds, you receive EP-630C earphones in black or white color and three sets of silicon ear tips. There is no carrying pouch or any other accessories. Luckily, their high-quality build lets you carry them loosely in your backpack or pockets without causing damage.
